Linguistics faculty receive NSF grant

Keith Langston, Professor of Linguistics, was recently awarded a three-year, $450,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study endangered languages on the Istrian peninsula of Croatia and the Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic Sea.

We are pleased to host a presentation by Dr. Michał Głuszkowski, visiting scholar from Uniwersytet Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu (Nicolaus Copernicus University) who will presenting research entitled “Sociolinguistic processes in language islands".

Congratulations to Dr. Jared Klein on 50 years at UGA!

We congratulate Jared Klein, Distinguished Research Professor, on the completion of his 50th year as a faculty member at UGA. Dr. Klein joined the UGA Department of Classics in Fall 1972. A specialist in historical Indo-European linguistics focusing on syntax and discourse structure, Dr.
